Detective Magazine Covers: Part 1
These magazine covers were the only true source of bondage imagery when I was a kid growing up in the late 60's and early 70's. Really, when you think about it, it's amazing how one powerful image could captivate one's imagination and still resonate so many years after.
It was during the Reagan Administration of the mid-80's that then Attoney General Ed Meese was given the task to study the effects of pornography on Americans, leading to appointment of the infamous Meese Commission....a tight group consisting wholly of right-wing moral crusaders. In the end, Meese and his ilk doomed the classic covers, supposing that they ultimately promoted violence against women.
